BUILDING BRIDGES: Creating gracious spaces

BUILDING BRIDGES

What would it be like if every Salvation Army facility across the nation, was a gracious place for truth-seeking on race and other important issues of our time. Can you imagine it?

Earlier this year Divisional Multicultural Ministries Coordinators, Field Advisors, and THQ staff participated in a Building Bridges training led by Rev. Eric H.F. Law of the Kaleidoscope Institute.

BUILDING BRIDGES – LEADERSHIP SEMINAR TRAINING – WITH ERIC LAW

The training was carefully designed to empower participants to create safe environments, and facilitate honest and constructive dialogue about race and other related issues between people with diverse opinions, perspectives and experiences. The outcome being: mutual understanding.

Since then, Multicultural Ministries staff have facilitated Building Bridges dialogues with youth leaders and social service providers.

Complete resource packets have been created on a wide variety of race-related topics, e.g. Race & Children, Race & Immigration, Race & Lives Matter, etc.  And there are webinars to help facilitators build their skills after an initial training.

If you’d like more information about Building Bridges or would like to have a Building Bridges presentation at your site, contact your divisional Multicultural Ministries Coordinator, Field Advisor, or the territorial Multicultural Ministries staff.
